School-Family Compact l Family Involvement Policy

CGLA is committed to engaging parents as partners to be lead participants in their child’s academic and social development and be involved in the school’s operations and governance.

At CGLA we believe that family involvement is critical to the success of students, and family members are key partners in the school learning community.  More than 30 years of research confirms that when parents and family members are actively engaged, students have:

  • higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates;
  • better school attendance;
  • increased motivation and higher self esteem;
  • lower rates of disciplinary action, including school suspension;
  • decreased use of drugs and alcohol; and
  • fewer instances of violent behavior.

In light of these research findings, CGLA views parents as lead participants in girls’ academic and social development.  Be there for your girl!

  • Spend at least two hours in your child’s classroom during each 9-week period.
  • Reinforce CGLA’s Technology Responsible Use Policy to ensure safe and ethical use of technology tools.
  • Participate in Parent Institute activities and monthly Family Nights.
  • Volunteer at CGLA.
